As you may know, I became a vegetarian in January thanks to a nasty sushi experience (thanks again Jin. lol!). However, I had actually been considering the option for a long time because of my love for animals.
I have just now been on the PETA website and I watched a video with Joaquin Phoenix calling for famous designers like Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo to stop using animal skins in their designs. Now, I am against any kind of animal skins and fur (but kinda okay with wool, as the sheep aren't truly harmed during the shearing process, by most accounts) but after reading this article and watching this video I am once again completely sickened
Peta, you have once again made my heart hurt and my eyes cry. But I guess some people have to see the horrors first hand to get the message. I, myself, was unaware that because of a reptiles slow metabolism they remain conscious during the skinning and up to five hours after, before they finally die. Isn't that heart breaking?
Nevertheless, I would like everyone to click on the following link and sign the petition to stop animal skins from being used for fashion (including pants, shirts, skirts, shoes, and bags). Please read the article, please watch the video. But please, hold on to your stomach.
The Wandering Soul and Wondering Mind of me, Tiffany! I love to travel and write so I hope everyone enjoys!

That's so terrible ;___;
The first PETA video I watched was two Thanksgivings ago, I believe. They went undercover at the Butterball turkey place and OMG i wanted to punch the employees through my computer screen. It really affected me and I did try to go vegetarian once, but my parents told me that it wouldn't help me with my weight issues...I'm kind of underweight (don't worry, it's not because of an eating disorder haha it's just how i was born i guess!).
But I really love animals and I hate how insensitive a lot of people are about what's really happening behind the scenes of fast food restaurants and such. Whenever I try to explain this to people they always think I'm crazy! >.<
I'm so mad! I definitely wrote a nice long response and it's not here ;___;
Guh. Well, pretty much I said that the first PETA video I watched was about the Butterball turkeys that everyone buys for Thanksgiving. I wanted to punch those employees through my computer screen. It was terrible. That made me go vegetarian for a little bit but my parents advised me that it wouldn't help my weight issues. I'm a bit underweight, but it's not because of eating disorders or anything. Guess I was just born that way...
But yeah, I really like animals! I'm so irritated about how insensitive people are about animals...it's amazing how many people don't care! They think dogs and cats are fun and all, and they get angry when they hear about puppy mills, but what about the other animals? The one being slaughtered behind the scenes for fast food purposes? Gah.
I am with you all the way. The thought of any animal other than a fly being killed, especially when animals are killed for the vain purposes of mankind, it just makes me cringe!
BTW, your first post did show up, so there are now two posts, but it's fine! :) Love it!
It is dangerous to deprive your body of protein, especially if you are naturally underweight. I know lot's of people who've switched to vegetarian, even vegan, that couldn't do so for a long time because of this issue. It can be done though. You just have to work with your doctor or nutritionist. Let them know what's going on. You would have to take protein supplements everyday and every vegetarian has to take a multi-vitamin supplement because of health reasons. Also, if you are underweight you will have to go for checkups more often. It sucks, but a lot of my friends live with it and say they feel better because they aren't supporting such a horrible industry.
I think it's easier for people to be appalled at puppy mills because dogs and kitties are domesticated and much closer to our everyday lives. The fact that meat is EVERYWHERE makes people less sensitive to the fact that cows, pigs, and chickens are being raised for the specific purpose of slaughter. Also, the fear of wild animals leads people not to bat an eye at snake skin boots, or leather pants. But like Joaquin said, violence is violence and it needs to stop. You can make great fashion without harming animals.
Anyways~~~Thanks for the comments!
