Ta-dah! I’ve decided that from here on in I will post any dreams that I have that are particularly weird or remeberable. Last night’s dream was both! It was so freaky I had to write it down. I wrote from the moment I woke up (before 7:30) until 8am!
First part:
My dream opened with me living in Japan in some kind of dorm/group apartment. It was just me and a few other Japanese guys. My Grandma and brother came to pick me up because it was the end of my stay and time to come back home.
Okay, so a little more details that I remember: It was against the house rules to have in your possession any manga/anime. I was forced to dig up the floors before I left and to dispose of any manga/anime that I found (apparently people before me hid their stuff underneath the tiles?). I tried to sneak some out (though I can’t remember what titles I found). In the last spot I had to dig up I found a few wrapped presents. The guys had gotten me some really expensive presents as going away gifts. I was so touched, but obviously a little peeved since I had done all that digging!
As common courtesy, I had to get them gifts that were just as expensive. Grandma and I and Landon went shopping to find them suitable gifts. I don’t remember what all we bought, except grandma bought them a Santa figurine that was about two feet tall and said Ho ho ho , merry christrmas…I think she said it was $59. I tried to tell her that it was no good. Why would they want that? And $59 seemed pretty cheap against whatever it was they got me.
This is where I forget anything else that happened in that dream.
The next dream I had later on in the night was similar, but not:
I am living in Japan with my home stay family. The family consists of a Mother, a sister the same age as me, and two younger school age boys (both of them really young, like elementary school and primary school age). They are all really nice and all of them speak perfect English. I prefer trying to speak in Japanese and they try to understand me, but my Japanese is still not that good, so they would rather I just speak English.
They had another girl staying with them who left when I got there. She was American but Latino (maybe Puerto Rican). She spoke really good Japanese. She left a little while after I got there…the details are fuzzy. As a family we had dinner (it was really late at night, already dark out). The meal was like breakfast, consisting of bacon, sausage and eggs. I told my Japanese mama that I did not eat meat and then she remembered I was a vegetarian. She fixed me two pieces of toast. (Joy! I can’t remember my reaction in the dream…but really…two pieces of toast…oh well).
I vaguely remember everyone rinsing their own dishes off and that there was some strange way of washing dishes that I am not used to. Next, I went for a bath with the sister after the brothers got out. This was also VERY WEIRD. Their bathroom was pretty large, but American-like in style. Their bathtub was full of towels; there were folded towels of different colors stacked up high, as if they were in a cabinet. The sister undressed so fast and got in a towel that I didn’t even notice. I stripped and got into a towel and I think she thought it was funny that I couldn’t do it faster and that I showed my skin for so long.
She said that they did not shower or bathe in a tub, but that they used a steamer. This said steamer was a large pot, big enough for only one person to use at a time. She let me get in first and she washed my back. I remember thinking that the pot looked like it should be used to cook something (or someone) in, but I held my tongue and bathed like a good little gaijin.
Later this same evening, we went out to the mall. She drove us and it seems like they lived up a little high on a mountain. We had to go over a little bridge to get to town and we actually parked near the little wooden bridge and walked the rest of the way. For some strange reason we left our shoes outside the car, beside the bridge (I was wearing flip flops, even though I’m pretty sure it was winter and my hair was still wet) and we had to wet ourselves with some water that an old lady had prepared in a bowl (afterwards, I vaguely remember a phone call in which my Japanese sister told me that it had been found out that the water was full of salmonella or some other dangerous stuff and that I should hurry home or to the hospital…weird…I don’t remember really…).
My Japanese sister (I remember no names) was a good singer and told me that she was about to sign a contract to be a pop star. At the mall, we passed Ludacris as he was shooting a video. They said hey to each other like they were best friends!
Then something else weird happened. To get to the part of the mall she wanted to go to, she told me to get on her back because we would be walking straight up (vertically!) the building. She took me up; I closed my eyes the whole time. It was so scary and weird! When we got to the top, it had started snowing. I don’t remember that we bought anything.
Strangely I saw Tazzane’ Swiney and she had married a Japanese man and was majorly pregnant at the moment. I also saw my cousin Jennifer who had a 3 month old baby. Nobody even told me she was pregnant! I also met another lady who could walk up/down the building backwards. Weird.
We got back to the car and drove home. We left our shoes. I thought this was odd. The next evening I went back to the mall by myself to do some shopping. I got there okay, but on the way back I forgot which way to go after I crossed the bridge. I went the wrong way and got lost. I ended up in a little Christian Commune type thing: Lots of nuns and priests everywhere. (Probably Catholic). I decided to turn around and go back. I remember passing a gift shop…..
My phone buzzed (I did not have my host family’s phone number), It was a message from IES saying that my host family had reported me missing. It said to press the red button if I was kidnapped and to press the blue button if I was just lost. I pressed the blue button and soon had a message from my Japanese sister. She said that they were all waiting at the old bridge and that her brothers had made a little boat lantern and had floated it down the river hoping it would get me back.
I finally found them and we went back home. They later asked me about my plans. I told them I was staying in Japan until Jan 11, but would probably go to Korea for Christmas. They said I could continue staying in their home while I was in Japan and that they were happy to have me there for お正月(the New Year).
End dream….I remember nothing else….totally weird….
Please feel free to comment on the weird randomness of it all!

OMG! yay! I was there in the form of Catholicism :D I love your wacky dreams, mostly because I have some myself. I had a dream the other night that my cat popped my neighbor's dog's eye out and that the dog just sat there with it's eyeball on the ground. It was very Burtonesque.
No comment at all on any specifics except the Catholic part I see. lol! Your cat/dog dream is also very weird...you need to stop watching Alice!!!
I'm curious about why in the first part of my dream I was living with three boys...And about my Japanese sister walking up the side of that building...and so many other odd things...I understand...there are too many things to comment on!
